Day in the Life Archives

Hi, my name is Brian Hall, and I’m one of the Tax Managers here at Beall Barclay.  I am a native of Conway, Arkansas and a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. I started my public accounting career in Little Rock but moved with my wife and two sons to Fort Smith in 2005 to take a position with Beall Barclay.  I’m one of those odd characters that left public accounting for a few years to serve as a CFO, only to return to the profession I truly love.

I’m often asked what my typical day consists of.  The truth is that I rarely have a “typical” day – this is one of the things I enjoy most about my career.  My day starts when I want or need it to – sometimes early, but often after I’ve dropped my sons off at school or attended one of their morning school activities.  The flexibility of my schedule also lets me pursue personal interests like hunting, fishing, or coaching my sons’ baseball teams. 

What I enjoy most about my career is the interaction with such a diversified group of individuals – clients and coworkers.  Although I have some typical functions each day, the problems I solve for our clients are rarely comparable from one day to another.  I spend much of my day juggling tasks and managing the expectations of our clients and partners.  As a manager, I’m in constant contact with our partners and staff to provide solutions that will help both our clients and our firm improve.
