Beall Barclay: How many years have you been with Beall Barclay?

Carolyn Medeiros: 22 years

BB: What is your role within Beall Barclay?

Carolyn: CFO/Firm Administrator.

BB: How you contribute to the success of Beall Barclay?

Carolyn: One of my roles is to prepare the firm’s budget and oversee payables and cash management.   I enjoy this role and it gives me an opportunity to control spending and set realistic goals for the firm.   I also handle the assigning of work to accountants and bookkeepers through a scheduling process.   This job helps me to be involved in developing the staff to make them as productive as possible while maintaining our original goal of hitting budgeted revenue.

BB: What did you do prior to joining Beall Barclay?

Carolyn: I worked at an advertising firm as a typist, but this was a long time ago!

BB: Are there any memorable experiences you’d like to share that typify what it’s like to work at Beall Barclay?

Carolyn: Beall Barclay is like family and our experiences at the firm define not only, our individual character, but that of the firm.

BB: Beall Barclay prides itself in enabling associates to maintain a strong life/work balance.   How has this approach impacted you?

Carolyn: I have been here throughout the raising of my two sons.   They were very active throughout school.   Even though they have had to go through extra time during tax season without me, this job has also given me the opportunity to be with them on the sidelines of some of their most important times – throughout their education, activities, athletics and relationships.

BB: How has the firm supported your professional growth via training opportunities?

Carolyn: I attend annual national conferences in an organization that I have been a member for many years, the Association of Accounting Administrators.   This allows me to stay on the cutting edge of the industry trends and to keep my focus on my career goals.

BB: How do you see your future at Beall Barclay unfolding?

Carolyn: I have grown up here and I plan to stay here until retirement – it is a part of who I am.

BB: What qualities do you think a person needs to have to succeed at Beall Barclay?

Carolyn: They need to be teachable, flexible, and they need to maintain a good attitude!

BB: What do you like to do outside of work?

Carolyn: My relationship with God and my family are first and foremost.   I attend Bible School classes.   I enjoy reading, puzzle building and spending time with my cat.
